Kara Oakes is the dynamic author behind the children's book, “The Great Healthy Race,” which follows Mrs. Patterson and her spirited class as they discover the benefits of nutrition and superfoods with the help of Super Kara and her sidekick, Nutria the guinea pig. Through her book, Kara aims to inspire young readers to make nutritious choices and find joy in staying active. Building on this mission, Kara founded "Healthy Bites with Kara," a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching young children about the importance of healthy eating. Inspired by her own journey and the impact of nutritious food on energy and well-being, Kara authored "The Great Healthy Race" to creatively illustrate how making good food choices can boost energy and overall health. Kara leads an active lifestyle, regularly working out to maintain her physical fitness, participating in competitive cheer, and competitive gymnastics, showcasing her skills in teamwork, performance, and agility. She loves to cook healthy dishes, further emphasizing her commitment to a nutritious lifestyle, and she volunteers at her local hospital, where she helps with various activities, including cooking classes to support healthy lifestyles.
Academically, Kara holds a certificate from Stanford University Intro to Food and Health, is a member of the National Honor Society at her high school and is dual enrolled at the University of West Georgia, where she was nominated to join the university’s National Honor Society of Leadership and Success. Beyond her literary work and non-profit activities, Kara is looking forward to actively engaging with the community by visiting schools to read her book to classrooms, hosting book signings, and leading interactive cooking classes at the local hospital for youth groups. Through these initiatives, "Healthy Bites with Kara" aims to inspire and educate children to make healthier food choices, fostering a foundation for lifelong wellness. By combining storytelling with hands-on experiences, Kara empowers young minds to understand the value of nutrition in a fun and relatable way, with a vision to create a generation of children who are not only informed about healthy eating but also excited to make those choices every day. Join Kara and "Healthy Bites with Kara" in their mission to fuel healthy futures, one bite at a time.
